Germany’s gold idol Bernhard Langer has been named the best player on the US Champions Tour 2020/21 after his sixth overall victory.
The 64-year-old veteran from Anhausen managed to win two tournaments last season and finished in the top ten 24 times. Langer had previously won the Jack Nicklaus Award eight times.
“I’m humbled and surprised because our tour is incredibly competitive, there are many deserving candidates,” said Langer, who was the only player at all 39 tournaments on the senior tour: “To receive this award through a vote by experts , is a reward.”
In addition, Langer received the award for the player with the highest prize money for the eighth time.
The two-time Masters winner had earned $3,255,499 in the two-year season due to the pandemic.
This year’s tour of the over-50s starts on Thursday in Hualalai/Hawaii.
