National coach Hansi Flick hopes that national soccer player Niklas Süle will switch from FC Bayern to Borussia Dortmund for more balance in the Bundesliga.
The transfer will “heat up the competition in the league again,” said Flick on Tuesday in the “Sport1” interview.
He is therefore “very happy for the Bundesliga and of course especially for Niklas,” said Flick. Süle’s quality is not only “enormously” good for the league: “This change is also a good sign for the national team with a view to the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, because Niklas is staying in Germany and can continue to show his class here.”
Süle will leave FC Bayern in the summer for Dortmund on a free transfer, where he will receive a four-year contract. BVB managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke does not want this to be seen as “a declaration of war” to the industry leader: “We haven’t poached a player from Bayern,” Watzke told the “Frankfurter Rundschau”.
