Crowd favorites Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis have provided the first Australian doubles final since 1980 at the Australian Open of tennis pros.
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis continued their surprising winning streak in Melbourne with a 7: 6 (7: 4), 6: 4 against Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos from Spain and Argentina.
The two wild card holders, who attracted spectators with their wild and entertaining manner, meet Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in Saturday’s final.
In their semifinals, Ebden and Purcell defeated Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury from the USA and Great Britain 6:3, 7:6 (11:9). In 1980 Kim Warwick and Mark Edmondson had won against Peter McNamara and Paul McNamee.
