Australia coach Arnold misses World Cup qualification

Australia’s national team will have to do without head coach Graham Arnold in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar next week.

As the Football Australia Association announced on Sunday, Arnold is in isolation after a positive corona test.

The Socceroos meet Vietnam in the third round in Group B in Melbourne on Thursday and will be coached by assistant coach Rene Meulensteen. In third place behind Saudi Arabia (16 points) and Japan (12), the Australians (11) are under pressure against the pointless bottom.

Only the first and second of the two groups qualify directly for the World Cup, the third-placed play the participant for intercontinental play-offs.
