Augsburg’s Gregoritsch praises Pepi’s winter transfer

Football professional Michael Gregoritsch from Bundesliga club FC Augsburg understands that Ricardo Pepi’s record purchase will take longer to get used to.

“You have to remember that he comes to Augsburg from warm Texas. His hat was swept away on the training ground,” said the FCA goalscorer on Sky TV. “And that’s why I think the boy needs time. The fee is of course a backpack, that’s clear.” According to Gregoritsch, 19-year-old Pepi is “very mature” for his age.

Speaking of his own contract until 2023 and the lure of the English Premier League, he said: “I want to play this season first, we haven’t spoken a word about it either.”

In April, one might want to address the contract situation when Augsburg – currently table 16. on the relegation rank – should have gained a good cushion of points by then, the 27-year-old Austrian announced. “Of course I can imagine going to the Premier League, but on the other hand I now know again what I have here at the club.”
