ARD reporter in Beijing quarantine: “A queasy feeling”

“ARD” reporter Claus Lufen tested positive for Corona on site a week before the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing and was taken to a quarantine hotel.

“I did everything that is possible and required. Nevertheless, the test was positive after my arrival,” Lufen told Sportschau in a video interview.

“Despite all the precautionary measures and the conditions that have to be met, there is a significant gap that cannot be prevented,” said Lufen. He is not alone in his predicament: “I have the feeling that one or two new people come to my hotel every hour. It is a very critical situation at the moment.”

Those responsible in China are friendly. “But of course you feel very embarrassed because you only have to deal with full body suits,” said the 55-year-old. He has an “absolutely queasy feeling”. Lufen expects to stay in the 15 square meter room for at least five to seven days. The winter games begin next Friday.

The two required PCR tests before leaving Germany were negative for Lufen. Also another PCR and a rapid test, which he had also done before departure.
