“All nonsense”: Effenberg reacts to Haaland freak out

Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund caused a stir with a freak out on the last Bundesliga matchday against Eintracht Frankfurt. Ex-professional Stefan Effenberg sees no problem in the behavior of the BVB attacker.

Although Erling Haaland did not score at the start of the second half of the season, the Norwegian was the focus of many scenes during the duel with Eintracht Frankfurt (3: 2). The 21-year-old engaged in several skirmishes and clearly insulted Frankfurt’s Martin Hinteregger after a shove as “f…ing idiot”.

Has Haaland gone too far with his choice of words? Does the Dortmund center forward even have to be punished? “It’s all nonsense,” says ex-Bundesliga player Stefan Effenberg. “It’s great that there is such a highly motivated young guy in the league who could do with a lot more of that,” wrote the 53-year-old in his column for “t-online“.

“At 21, Haaland is simply obsessed with winning. One or the other war of words is perfectly fine,” added Effenberg. In addition to Haaland, the former Bayern professional also likes Jude Bellingham. “I turn on the TV for these players and of course I still wish that they would stay in the league,” said Effenberg.

Effenberg advises FC Bayern against Haaland

Haaland in particular is repeatedly said to be a change in the summer, and FC Bayern is also mentioned as an interest in this context. “I don’t think that’s a good idea because moving to Munich still doesn’t make sense for me,” Effenberg commented on the rumours: “Bayern should put everything on the Lewandowski card and see to it that his contract is extended beyond 2023.”

According to Effenberg, it is understandable that the Pole does not want to accept any lower salaries at Bayern Munich. “To date there is no indication that he could slow down at the age of 33. It would therefore also be justified to pay him his current gross salary of allegedly around 24 million euros until 2024 or 25,” said the “Tiger”.
