The Dutch soccer record champion Ajax Amsterdam initiates disciplinary proceedings against the resigned soccer director Marc Overmars at the Institute for Sports Law ISR.
The Dutch association KNVB confirmed to the TV broadcaster NOS that a corresponding announcement had been made to the independent sports arbitration board ISR.
According to the KNVB, sports organizations have a duty to report unacceptable behavior. Sexually intolerable behavior in the form of messages via social media to female colleagues led to Overmars’ resignation on Sunday evening.
The daily newspaper NRC has been researching Overmars’ supposedly sexist behavior towards female colleagues at the traditional Dutch club since December.
The newspaper spoke to eleven women who wish to remain anonymous. According to your statements, sexism was part of the Ajax culture, and Overmars’ behavior had been known for a long time.
The newspaper had informed Ajax that they wanted to publish an article about Overmar’s behavior this week. The former national player surprisingly resigned to the public on Sunday evening.
