FC Barcelona are threatening conference league winners AS Roma with legal action after a friendly was canceled.
Coach José Mourinho’s club canceled its participation in the Joan Gamper Trophy (August 6) “unilaterally and without reason”, it said in a statement. Barca seek compensation for this “unexpected and unfounded decision”.
The Italians justified their move with scheduling difficulties due to other tests in Portugal and Israel. Barca hold the Gamper trophy annually in honor of its founder Joan Gamper.
The women’s teams of both clubs should also have met, as has been the case since last year. The Catalans now want to provide a replacement.
