8 out of 13 Germans failed at Wimbledon

The successful start was followed by a day full of defeats: Of 13 German tennis professionals in Wimbledon, only five remained after the first round.

On Tuesday, three male and three female players, including Andrea Petkovic, lost their matches. Only Tatjana Maria won the continuation of her game, which had been canceled the night before.

She followed through the 4: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4 against the Australian Astra Sharma the former tournament winner Angelique Kerber (No. 15), Jule Niemeier, Oscar Otte (No. 32) and Maximilian Marterer in the second round. All five are back in action on Wednesday.

In addition to Petkovic (4: 6, 3: 6 against Viktorija Golubic from Switzerland), Daniel Altmaier, Nicola Kuhn, Dominik Koepfer, Tamara Korpatsch and Nastasja Schunk were eliminated.
