The nouveau riche English football club Newcastle United continues with full pockets on a shopping spree.
The “magpies” from Saudi Arabia have signed New Zealand striker Chris Wood from league rival FC Burnley and given him a contract until 2024. According to media reports, the 30-year-old will cost an impressive 25 million pounds, the equivalent of around 30 million euros.
Wood has scored 49 goals in 144 Premier League appearances for Burnley and 27 goals in 60 caps for New Zealand. It is the second winter transfer of the relegation-threatened club after defender Kieran Trippier (31), who came from Atletico Madrid for around 16 million euros.
